What is different this June and yet the same so many Junes before?
When the month of June begins and ends, educational institutions are alive with
recognitions of excellence, graduations, parties, and proms. Sometimes special vacations are planned. Everyone is excited.
There are feelings of not wanting school to end and at the same time wanting all the good times. Even if there is nothing exceptional planned, just the changes in daily routine with fun in the park or in the backyard are looked forward
to with delight.
Then there is this June. The routine is forever changed. The routine is shattered and the pieces have been scattered into oblivion. There is no way the routine can
be put back together again.
Yet, for some, flowers, pictures, conversations and memories through laughter and tears begin the process of a new routine. This routine takes on the responsibility,
if allowed, of the long road of healing. Slowly the tears stop. Slowly the repetition of the story is not as necessary anymore. Slowly, ever so slowly, “this June” become frozen in time.
For others, “this June” becomes a battle cry to action by speaking Truth to Power. For anyone who will listen staying true to what you believe as Truth and speaking
it to the powers that happen to hold relative power during this June is your path to healing.
Unity’s 2 nd Principle says, “Human beings have a spark of divinity within them, the Christ spirit within. Their very essence is of God, and therefore they are also inherently good.” Speaking Truth to Power is saying all lives
matter!!!
Let this June routine be the one that speaks Truth to Power and “justice rolls on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream.” (Amos 5:24)
This GOSPELGRAM is brought to you from Unity In Harlem and will appear twice-a-month for the immediate future.
